ALL ADOPTION FEES ARE TO BE PAID IN CASH, CASHIER'S CHECK, OR MONEY ORDER DUE TO THE LARGE AMOUNT OF BOUNCED CHECKS WE RECEIVE.
Our rescue Danes are vet checked, current on vaccinations, spayed or neutered, and on heartworm preventive before they are placed. We do our best to make sure that the Danes are in good health prior to going to their new home. But, due to the limited funds in rescue, we do not do any health testing for genetic defects - such as x-raying for hip dysplaysia. To help ensure that each Dane is matched with the most suitable home, all Danes live with one of our rescue volunteers for a minimum of two weeks for evaluation.
Since the Danes are kept in foster homes, we do not have "visiting hours" like a public shelter.
Before meeting any Danes for adoption, you will need to fill out the adoption application and we will set up a home visit. We will attend some community events with rescue danes on occasion, so feel free to ask about upcoming events.
A $10 Application Fee is now required for processing.
We now require a $10 application fee for all new applications. Please feel free to ask questions concerning our available Danes before moving on to the application process. We are always here to answer questions about the breed and how suitable our dogs may be for your family! We encourage your questions and concerns.
This is a one time fee and we will consider you for all of our available danes.

Why are we asking for an application fee?
Unfortunately the cost of rescue has become a heavy burden that adoption fees aren't covering. In addition to this, we are getting a great deal of applications, and many of these applicants aren't truly dedicated to adopting a Dane. Each application takes between 7-15 hours to process and has additional costs including gas, long distance calls and the volunteers time (home checks, vet checks, etc.). As a result the application processors are bombarded with applications, and the few qualified ones that they get are not getting timely responses due to the sheer volume that they receive. This application fee will help provide some much needed funding, as well as provide our volunteer processors with fewer, more dedicated applications.
Please be aware that we do check some key points on the application. Including veterinary reference, property ownership (or land lord approval) and we do a physical home check before the final approval takes place. We will give each applicant thorough consideration, but filling out an application will not guarantee approval, nor will it guarantee that you will be the best match for the dane that you are interested in. The approval will be based on providing a loving suitable home for a Dane and a feeling of faith from our volunteers that the Dane will be cared for medically, physically and emotionally for the remainder of it's life.
We understand some people are not amenable to paying a fee, but this program is run 100% by volunteers, and we're doing the best that we can * for the rescue Danes * with extremely limited resources.

Please be sure to use the same name for payment as you do on your application. If you are not able to use PayPal, email us with your interest and we can provide you with a physical address to mail your application fee.
If you're interested in adopting:
The first step is to fill out an application for adoption. The answers you provide on the application tell us about your family, pets and lifestyle and help us match you with the right Dane. Appointments can be made to visit with the Danes (at their foster home) upon approval of your completed application. We prefer to only adopt Danes within Florida, but will consider each request on a case by case basis. We strongly suggest that people out of our area (and especially out of state) contact closer Dane rescues first to see if they have any Danes that are a good match. There are Danes all over the country that need a good home. We will consider out of area/state adoptions only if the people have tried closer rescues and can't find any Danes that will suit them, we can find someone that we trust to do a home check, and you must drive to the foster home and meet the dog in person prior to adoption. We will not fly Danes.
